USDA Grants

The Solid Waste Management Grant (SWMG) is available to nonprofit organizations,
county and/or city governments, Native American tribes, or academic institutions. The SWMG may be used to provide technical
assistance and/or training to solid waste operators and/or the community on ways to reduce the solid waste stream which may include
recycling or adding recycling operations at a solid waste facility. This grant is not intended to pay for capital costs.
The other grant that the USDA offers is the Community Program Grant.
This grant is intended to finance community facilities in rural areas and towns up to 20,000 in population. The grant funds can be used
to construct, expand, or improve community and public services. This can include the purchase of equipment for the operation of the
facility; however, it cannot include any recurring, operating, or maintenance costs.
