Join the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) next Tuesday, March 12, 2013, for the fourth, and final, online class of their Recycling Mini Lessons eSeries. In this lesson, students will be provided with a wide range of options for the collection of residential recyclables and will identify the different types of equipment, unit processes, and collection methods to create a safe and efficient material recovery facility (MRF). By the conclusion of this class, students should have an understanding of how materials flow through a MRF and the level processing needed. The College & University Recycling Coalition (CURC) will be holding a webinar entitled E-Waste Recycling Program Expansion: Best Practices and Recovery Strategies for Batteries, Hand-held Personal Devices, and More on Thursday, February 14, 2013, from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM CST. College and university recycling officials should tune in for an overview of what other campuses are doing across the country followed by a panel discussion focusing on special consideration and opportunities in recovery of materials such as batteries, personal hand-held devices, and more.
