Durable recyclable bins are available free to government agencies, civic organizations, schools and nonprofit groups through the Public Space Recycling Bin Grant Program offered by the Coca-Cola Foundation and Keep America Beautiful. The deadline to apply is Oct. 7.
The Coca-Cola Foundation and Keep America Beautiful offer the grant program annually to increase convenience and expand opportunities for recycling.
When applying, applicants select bin style from a menu of options. If selected, bins will be shipped free of charge. The grant process is competitive. The program has a matching component, and discounted recycling bins are available for purchase. Applicants who commit to matching the program’s investment in bins will receive preference in the selection process.
Keep America Beautiful will notify successful applicants in late October. Bins will arrive in January 2017.

The Arkansas Recycling Coalition has announced an upcoming food waste workshop in our neighboring state. The recent announcement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency of the U.S. Food Loss and Reduction Goal has helped to bring the topic of food waste to the forefront of organizations involved in the promotion of waste reduction, reuse and recycling. This national goal aims to reduce food loss and waste by 50% by the year 2030. Recognizing Arkansas as one of the leading producers of food in the U.S., the Arkansas Recycling Coalition (ARC) has taken on the responsibility of addressing food waste issues and exploring ways to reduce food loss and waste in the state moving forward.
The ARC and its partners invite you to join them as they discuss ways to tackle this important issue at the Food Waste Workshop to be held July 7, 2016 from 9:30 am - 3:00 pm at Sherwood Forest located at 1111 West Maryland Avenue in Sherwood, AR.
For workshop speakers, sponsorship and registration information please call the ARC office at (866) 290-1429 or use the following link to the ARC website: https://www.recycleark.org/food-waste-workshop-2016/.
